Damjan Damjanovič, Director of the Slovenian Philharmonic
The Pika-Točka-Tačka cycle, which emerged from the cooperation of the Belgrade, Zagreb and Slovenian philharmonic orchestras, bears special significance for us all. As the most eminent music institutions in our respective countries, as well as momentous ambassadors, we have achieved not only some routine cooperation in music and culture, we have overcome many barriers
rooted in the public mind, as well. In the end, it is the language of music that knows no borders and bonds people.
Miljenko Puljić, Director of the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra
Through the regional Pika-Točka-Tačka cycle we are endeavouring to create a stable common platform for high-quality cultural cooperation, in which all three orchestras – the Slovenian, Belgrade and Zagreb philharmonic orchestras – will participate equally, proportionately and in a manner of outright partnership. We believe that this is the right type of project through which we can send out a positive message and show positive examples of cooperation in the region.
Ivan Tasovac, Director of the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra
When three national philharmonic orchestras from the countries whose past was anything but carefree and untroubled initiate a long-term joint regional project such as Pika-Točka-Tačka, it is almost impossible to avoid the political implications. In order to anticipate all possible reasonable political questions, for no apparent reason, I will speak of grammar: in order to start a new sentence, you must first put a full stop to the previous. The full stop, or simply a dot, is an integral part of the exclamation and question marks, as well. Ellipsis, or three dots in a row, leaves open many possibilities, but in fact it indicates the uncertainty which is, perhaps, the most accurate account of the non-grammatical reality of the entire region. Therefore, we are opening the possibility for anyone to interpret our vision in accordance with their own political, artistic or grammatical passions. And one more thing – there will be some great concerts!
